The Bajaj Group was established in 1926 and today it is among the top 10 business houses in the country. It has its footprint stretched over a wide range of industries. But, Bajaj Auto is the group’s flagship company. This was just a week before the government’s ABS/CBS (Anti-lock Braking System/ Combined Braking System) deadline of April 1, 2019. Read on to find out more about the new Platina 100 KS with CBS.

Technologies Used:

  • ‘ComforTec’ Technology: Platina makes use of ‘ComforTec’ technology, which helps in providing comfort to the riders. Due to this technology, there are 20% fewer jerks as there are longer front and back suspension, directional tyres, spring soft seat and rubber footpads making the journey comfortable for the rider as well as the pillion.
  • DTS-i Technology: This technology is known for providing superlative mileage and the new Platina 100 KS with CBS uses it.
  • *CBS: The company calls it Anti-Skid Braking. In Combined Braking System, the driver’s action of depressing one of the brake levers applies both front and rear brakes. This makes the ride much safer and reliable.

Engine Details

The new Bajaj bike uses the same engine as used in the other variants in Platina 100 line-up. It is a 102cc, single-cylinder, 2-valve DTS-I engine with ExhausTEC. It churns out 7.9 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and peak torque of 8.3Nm at 5,500rpm.

This engine is paired to a four-speed (all-down) transmission with brakes at the rear. The suspension is taken care of by telescopic fork with 135 mm travel up front. At the rear, it is spring in spring with 110 mm. This bike’s fuel tank capacity is 11.5 litres. The graphics are attractive and there is a stylish LED DRL headlamp. It comes in two attractive colors: Cocktail Wine Red and Ebony Black equipped with silver decals.

The President Motorcycle Business, Bajaj Auto, Sarang Kanade, stated at the launch, “Platina is known for delivering supreme comfort along with great mileage to commuters. With the introduction of the Platina 100KS, we are now able to offer great value at an unbeatable price point.”

Pricing

This CBS-equipped bike was launched at an ex-showroom, Delhi price of INR 40,500*. The ‘KS’ in its name stands for Kick Start. So far, the company only has an electric-start variant of Platina 100. Its price is INR 47,405* and thus this 100 KS with CBS undercuts the electric start variant by INR 6,905*. This difference matters a lot to those who opt for Bajaj Finance bike loan to buy the newly launched bike.

So far, CT100 has been Bajaj’s most affordable bike in the price range of INR 32,000-40,883. At 40,500* this new bike is close to it and hence can be the most affordable bike for the company in the future. As the model testing of Platina 125cc was spotted in Pune, it is suggestive of the fact that the company is expected to launch a Platina 125cc sometime soon in the near future. This means that the company has plans to expand its Platina range. As the government has made ABS/CBS safety norms mandatory, we will also see Platina Comfortec 100ES alloy coming equipped with CBS soon.

If we talk of on the design front, this new variant retains the flavor of Platina’s styling, but then it was updated recently only. The new decals are, however, inspired by the Discover line of bikes.

Bajaj Auto came up with the launch of Bajaj 100cc bike, new Bajaj Platina 100 KS with CBS on 26th March 2019. Prior to the launch of Platina 100KS, Bajaj Platina line-up comprises of Platina Comfortec 100cc and 110cc models. With the introduction of this 100cc kick-start variant, Bajaj customers get more choices to pick the model based on their choice and budget.
